In The Company of Women **This site is a member of WebRing.A weeklong conference on the coast of Maine @ Ferry Beach Unitarian Universalist Conference Center
August 21 A Note from the Scholarship CommitteeDid you benefit from your experience this year or in the past at "In The Company of Women"?
Did our community feed your soul and energize you to move forward?
Did you make new friends, catch up with others and share with everyone?
Did you laugh, cry, dance, sing, worship or play in ways you seldom do at home?
Wouldn't you love to help others to experience all the joy that is found in our loving community?
Every year, with help from generous folks like you, we are able to offer a number of 1/2 scholarships to women who otherwise could not attend.
We raise money from an auction of items donated by conferees held each year
during our week at Ferry Beach
and also from the generous donations of women just like you.
If you are interested in donating, contact Luiza Brown, committee chair: itcw.lbrown@hotmail.com.
THANK YOU! January 20 What we offered in 2008August 9- August 15 2008
CREATING FROM OUR IMAGINATION
Coordinator: France Thibault itcw2008@gmail.com Reva Kussmaul Co-coordinator:
********************************************************************** Women in 2008 choose from the following week-long Morning Programs:
WOMEN LOVING WOMEN: For 21 years, Ferry Beach has provided a safe nurturing space for lesbians, bisexual and questioning women. We build community through small and large group discussions, sharing stories and creating and playing together. Led by Sarah Remick and Judy B. Carpenter.
SHAMANISTIC JOURNEY: You are invited to deepen your spiritual practice and to access teachers, spirit helpers and wisdom from the spiritual realm as you learn to trust your own shamanic journey process. Shamanism is a conscious and disciplined use of methods from around the world in both ancient and modern times. Led by Rev. Margaret Beckman and Debra Damelio.
SOUL CONVERSATIONS WITH WOMEN OVER 50: The soul speaks to us in a variety of ways. Life events, people we meet, our personal musings -all are ways we grow in the Spirit of Life. Women over 50 have the advantage of the wisdom of years of experience with which to nourish and learn from each other. Come share a week of conversations with others who you will discover are ancient friends of your soul. Led by Julie Labbe.
SACRED CIRCLE DANCE: In this workshop through meditation and group sharing, we will nurture and celebrate our journeys to wholeness. These simple dances awaken us to the peace within us, the love around us and the joy in our connection to one another and all of life. Heart work, not foot work, will be our intention so no dance experience is necessary. Led by Cathy Jay.
CREATING YOUR YOGA: Being around the ocean where the Prana is high, we will also practice outside to draw in the good energies, to fill the imagination and then create our yoga. All levels of practice welcome, especially beginners. Please bring comfortable, loose clothes and a mat. Led by Judy Gross who stepped in at the last minute--what a lifesaver!!
DISCOVERING THE SUPER SHERO IN YOU Deep within you lies a super shero! Come to know her through playful exploration in art, storytelling, puppetry and maskmaking. We'll help each other to see the strong, the courageous, the creative and the adventurous parts we sometimes keep hidden from ourselves and the rest of the world. Bring a journal, a sense of humor and a spirit of playfulness. Plentiful art supplies will be available or bring your favorites from home to share. Led by Mickey Reed and Maryann Ficker.
Jane Hucks led our daily "Healing Sea" meetings for those who struggle with addictive behaviors.
January 05 SCHOLARSHIP INFOAll Scholarship funds for 2008 have been allocated. Thank you to all who applied. See you in August!
Because In The Company of Women has limited money for scholarships, the most aid we can offer is one-half (1/2) of the camp fee. We often grant less in order to help as many campers as are in need.
Each recipient of scholarship funds will be assigned to a task during our conference week. This task will require a brief period of time and energy and shouldn’t interfere with your ability to participate fully in programming. Examples: helping to set up chairs for the Thursday Night Coffee House, assisting with Auction set up, passing out programs at daily chapel services, etc.
To supplement your scholarship funds, we suggest that you also apply for aid elsewhere. Many community groups and churches will give financial assistance to summer campers. In particular, many Unitarian/Universalist churches have helped those coming to conferences at Ferry Beach, whether you are a member of the church or not.
Decisions for scholarships are made on a case-by-case basis, depending on the requests and the available funds.
Applications for scholarships must be received by February 28th, 2008. Decisions will be announced by March 31st, 2008. Funds are paid directly to Ferry Beach Camp & Conference Center.
To request an application, please send an email to: itcw.lbrown@hotmail.com or phone the Ferry Beach office 207 282-4489.
